Our shutters are either painted using a cellulose base paint or they are coated with polyurethane. This means that our shutters have great protection against UV rays and discolouration.

Shutters do a good job of blocking out light, but they won’t be able to provide complete darkness on their own. If this is something you require, you should consider room darkening shutters that have integrated blinds behind the shutter panels. These virtually eliminate external light when closed, allowing you to enjoy a full night’s sleep.

Yes, shutters are a safe option for children. There are no cords or chains that children can accidentally entangle themselves in and the shutters also act as barrier that prevents access to the window behind the panels. If you opt for remote-controlled shutters, these have a jam prevention feature so that inquisitive fingers can’t be trapped between the louvres.

Shutters are an excellent energy efficiency measure. They add an extra layer of insulation that can prevent heat from transferring from one side of the window to the other. This makes it harder for heat to escape during the winter and, as an added benefit, prevents unwanted heat from building up during the summer. You should find that shutters make it easier to maintain a comfortable temperature without you relying on your central heating.

Shutters are a highly versatile feature for your home. For this reason, we like to say that you can put shutters on every window in your property, but you don’t have to. If you’re installing plantation shutters on a window in one of your rooms, we would advise you to consider installing them on the other windows in that room. This ensures that there is a consistent look and feel within the room. Otherwise, we’ve seen customers follow their own tastes – you could have shutters on just the front of your property or on a single floor.
